Fig Tree Goes To The Movies... Again!

Years ago, for Advent, I did a movie series here, where I connected the different themes of Advent (or pre-Christmas) to Christmas movies. It is still one of my favorite series.

We are going to do it again! This time, instead of being a written meditation, it will be part of the message during our livecast worship! Suggest a movie below, and I'll collect all or some of the options, and share our Summer Movie Schedule. It will start after Pentecost. (Pentecost is the celebration of the Spirit descending on the Disciples, and happens 7 weeks after Easter. This year Pentecost is May 31st.) 

If you have a movie you'd love to hear connected to the Bible, submit it below. Here are some guidelines for submission:

1. Non-Christian: I know this is a strange qualifier. Isn't this a Christian organization? Yeah, but a specifically Christian movie is basically a 2 hour sermon. I have no desire to sermonize on someone else's sermon. Those kinds of movies make great pairings with Bible Studies though, so if you want a 4-6 week study on a Christian movie, you can submit it below with that note in the explanation. (I've already done it with The Shack!)
2. The Subject can be discussed at length to your children/grandchildren: I can talk about Schindler's List in front of my eight year old, and talk about it in a way that's not going to break her little mind. Unless there is an extremely compelling reason, avoid movies where the subject is horror or sex.
3. Easy to obtain: The hope is for people to catch up on these movies the week leading up to the message. If it's on Netflix, Hulu, or Disney+ those are easy to obtain movies. I will also count anything that has a rental of $2.99. That's everything on Redbox and many movies on Prime or YouTube. You'll find that these qualifiers actually open up a wide selection of movies. 
4. Something interesting: I want to have fun! The more fun I'm having, the more fun you'll be having too!
